A Day at Our Farm Is Worth Two in the Classroom

Our farm is the perfect place for children to learn about the process of growing foods, raising animals and their life cycle in a safe, family-friendly environment. We are trying to create a connection of where food comes from so that children have more knowledge about what they put into their bodies. Nowadays children can become disconnected from their source of food and fiber. This hands-on educational experience shows everyone from young to old how life was, and still is lived on an American farm.

Leddy's Homestead is not a petting zoo – it’s an educational farm/day camp teaching about farm animals and farm life.

Surveys show that 7 out of 10 people have never milked a cow, touched a goat or seen a newborn baby farm animal. Leddy's Homestead gives visitors the opportunity to experience what it’s like to live on a working farm.

Visitors of all ages can take a guided tour of the farm – and enjoy nature’s tranquility while eating lunch in the oak tree-shaded picnic areas.

Your family can spend all or part of the day at our farm for your child's birthday party, a family reunion or just an adventure with the family. Feel free to even suggest Leddy's Homestead to your child's teacher for their next field trip destination. One way to bridge this gap in knowledge is through a visit to a working farm! We welcome the opportunity to show off our farm to school groups, scout troops, play groups, gardening clubs, senior groups and others interested in farm education and local agriculture.

Now booking for 2024! Plan your next field trip and bring your class or group for an educational and fun day on a modern, family-owned and operated, 23+ acre working produce farm. We are conveniently located in Alba, Texas, which is approximately a 90 minute drive from Dallas – nestled in beautiful Wood County. It is an easy commute for an experience that children and their families will remember forever. No visit is the same twice. We can tailor any program to meet your goals for students or a group, and make sure you have a fantastic time as well!
